Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus globulus Labill.

Eucalyptus includes 300 varieties and is the most characteristic vegetal group of Australian flora. Many of these species have been introduced in Chile, but E. globulus is undoubtedly the most abundantly planted either for ornamental purposes, to reforest, or to produce lumber.

Eucalyptus is a large evergreen tree. The leaves are perennial and very aromatic; when observed against the light you can notice the tiny capsules containing the essential oils. They are used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Properties: Decongestant, disinfectant of respiratory tract, febrifuge.
